you oughta be in movies
Your favorite book from the list is being made into a movie. Imagine you have been hired as the casting director. Make a list of the characters in the book and choose who you would cast to play the roles. The roles may be filled by famous actors or people you know. Make a video detailing who you have picked in each role and why. Upload to youtube or the summer library webpage.

tweet: #books>movies
Create a Twitter account for one of the characters in the book. Make sure to keep posts 140 characters or less. Try to post tweets from your character's point of view while you are reading the book. Think about what your character is thinking and feeling as you tweet. Remember to use #books>movies as well, so we can all see your tweets. If you'd prefer to "tweet" on paper, that's cool too.
DON'T CUT THAT LINE
Choose sentences or phrases that stood out to you during your readings and that you think are critical to the story and must be kept in the script when the book is turned into a movie, or make a list of titles, authors, settings, etc, anything that represents the books to you. Create a word cloud by typing them into the text box using one of the following: wordle.com, tagxedo.com, or abaya.com.

Hover your mouse over the characters' faces to find fun activities to engage with this classic mystery! Can you find all three ideas? Hint: don't forget the dog! |
make a grand entrance
Think about the personality of an interesting character you've read this summer. Choose a theme song to represent that character, along with some props or costume pieces. Create a 'walk-up' video (similar to athletes and celebrities walking onto the field or stage) of you strutting out to the music as if you are the character. Have fun and be creative! |

put them on social media
Create a document of a pretend Facebook or Instagram account page for a character you found particularly interesting. Imagine you are that character and create authentic posts as the character, along with what you imagine would be the character's interactions with other characters from the story. Want to mix it up? Have characters from different books interact on social media. What kind of relationships would the characters have?
